There’s nothing like a warm, comforting mug of hot chocolate on a chilly day! Curled up in a cozy blanket with your favorite fall or winter movie (we all have one)…now that is what I call the perfect day.

I love a good old hot chocolate, but this chai-spiced hot chocolate is absolutely delicious and extra warming thanks to the cinnamon and ginger. This warming drink is perfectly sweet, chocolatey, and spicy.

Plus, it’s dairy-free, naturally sweetened with dates, and requires just 8 ingredients and 10 minutes to make. Let’s get to it!

How to Make Chai-Spiced Hot Chocolate

You can use any milk you prefer, but I used coconut milk for the extra creaminess. Then you’re going to need Navitas Organics Cacao Powder (Navitas Organics is super high quality and rich in flavor), Navitas Organics Semi-Sweet Cacao Wafers (these add incredible richness and enhance the chocolate flavor), medjool dates for sweetness, and chai spices, like cinnamon and ginger. You could also add cardamom, but I’m not the biggest fan of the flavor, so I left it out.

Navitas Organics recently launched Semi-Sweet Cacao Wafers and let me just say, they have become a staple in my baking supplies! They melt like a dream and have the most rich, chocolatey flavor. They’re made with 60% cacao and lightly sweetened with coconut sugar. I love using them in everything from brownies to chocolate cake to cookies. And of course, hot chocolate!

Chai Hot Chocolate

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups coconut milk or milk of choice
  • 2 tbs Navitas Organics Cacao Powder
  • 4 medjool dates pitted
  • 8 Navitas Organics Semi-Sweet Cacao Wafers
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend on high until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour the mixture into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until warm and steamy. This takes about 3-5 minutes.
  • Serve warm with coconut whipped cream, marshmallows or shaved chocolate.
