As a health coach, you will need to put together a signature health coaching program for your business. This task might seem a bit daunting, especially when you’re just starting your business, so I’m walking you through the exact step to follow. You will have your very own program put together and working with clients in no time!

This is a 7-step process that covers everything from your sales page to what you should be charging for your health coaching program. Don’t skip any of the steps. Trust me!

1. Identify the Transformation

Begin with the end in mind. I want you to reverse-engineer your program and think about what your ideal client wants to achieve. Is it weight loss? It is balanced hormones? It is feeling confident in their body postpartum? What is the result your client can expect?

Take the time to understand what your ideal client really wants. If you’re struggling to identify or connect with your niche, I highly recommend checking out my Nail Your Niche Masterclass where I teach you how to speak to your ideal client to not only get them to pay attention to you but to buy from you.

2. Decide on the Program Length

How long will it take for your ideal client to get the transformation you identified in step 1? This will vary based on your niche and the outcome. Typically, programs are somewhere between 3-6 months. I always encourage health coaches to have a low-tier program in addition to their signature program. For instance, you could offer a 6-week program with a lower price point to cater to those who aren’t ready to invest thousands of dollars to work with you for 6 months.

3. Create the Program Structure

Now it’s time to put the program together. I like to break the program into modules or lessons to make the information easy to digest. If your program is 3 months long, with 6 coaching calls, you would have 6 lessons to cover.

Here are some questions to ask yourself while mapping out the program structure:

  • What skills and knowledge do my clients need to gain in order to achieve the promised result?
  • How many sessions or calls do they need to experience this transformation?
  • How often will our sessions be?
  • How long will those sessions be?
  • How much time do they need to implement everything?

4. Decide on the Delivery Method

How are you planning on delivering the information? This should be a combination of how you prefer to coach and the type of support your client needs in order for them to be successful. Will your program be a one-to-one coaching program? Will it be a group coaching program? Or possibly a self-paced online program?

Figure out the most effective and efficient method to help your client achieve the transformation along with what is most enjoyable and authentic for you.

5. Set the Price

Your price is all about value. It’s not about the number of modules or calls you offer. It’s about the problem you’re solving and how much your ideal clients value that. This is why it’s important to understand how to position and sell your programs.

Keep in mind that new health coaches just starting out will charge less than more experienced coaches. I like to use the rule that for every five clients you work with, you increase your prices.

Another thing to consider is that the more specific your niche is, the more you can likely charge since you’re providing a highly specific solution. Yet another reason to choose a very specific niche!

The last piece to figure out with pricing is how you’re going to handle payments. Will you have payment plans? Will you offer a discount for paying for the full package upfront? (I recommend that). Be prepared for your client to ask these questions.

6. Choose a Program Name

This is where you get to be creative! Choosing a program name is important. You want to make sure that your program name speaks to your ideal clients. They should be able to know pretty quickly if the program is for them.

You will also need to come up with a sub-title or tagline for your program that explains what the program is in a little more detail. For example, one of my clients works with women to help them find food freedom and heal their relationship with their bodies. Her signature program is called The Freedom Method. This is the tagline of her program: “My signature 1:1 coaching program takes you from food fear and body discomfort to food freedom and body acceptance so that you can live a more intuitive life without being bogged down by food rules, constant comparison, body discomfort, and self-doubt.”

You can tell that her program is clearly all about freedom!

7. Create a Sales Page

Once your program is all put together, it’s time to sell it. You will need to build a page on your website that shares all of the details about your program. More importantly, this page needs to connect with your ideal client so they understand that your program is the right fit for them. Think about everything a prospective client will want to know to help them make the investment.

This step is the most important because, without a good sales page, your program won’t get in front of the right people. Get inside the head of your ideal client and speak to her needs, frustrations, and desires. Connect with them on an emotional level!
